We all have heard that you should give your kids 2 things in life...One is wings and the other is roots. I have been doing a lot of reading(which is not a main pastime of mine). Between blogs, the bible and the books that I have been reading the same topic seems to be coming to mind. Letting Go and Letting God. Easy said than done, right.
The world bellows independence and be self-made. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 NLV Wow....leave the ways of this world behind and LET GOD transform you into a new person... LET GO and LET GOD show you his will which is pleasing and perfect. Okay, I can apply that to me one says, then you hear God say LET GO...LET GO...LET ME take care of them. Woh...MY KIDS...but what about this, what about that, what about 5 years from now, what about school, what about, what about, what about...."If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. Matthew 10:37 NLV Woh again. TEACH them to LOVE GOD most. TEACH them to RELY on GOD not MOM. To do so we much LOVE GOD most an RELY on GOD most.
Pastor Ian Trigg spoke on Romans 7:14-25 at church this Sunday. In which he spoke of this struggle of what is Right and what is Sinful. At the end, the final verse gives us hope. Hope in God.
So as moms we struggle. We struggle with being the "perfect Mom". We struggle with being the "Super Mom". We struggle with being a "Stay at Home Mom". We struggle with being a "Working Mom". We struggle with being a Mom in this world but what would happen if we became a Mom of God. Being a Mom that loves God first and teaches her children to love God first.
So I am daily going to strive to be a Mom of God. Handing over the drivers seat to God and letting go and Letting God. It is still going to be hard, a struggle, because I am human. But I am going to lean of God and focus on him.
The Better Mom a great blog post on a Mom writing about letting go. Also a great Christian Mommy Blog
